Tibetan Youth Congress resort's indefinite hunger strike


Tibet MapThree members of the Tibetan Youth Congress have commenced an indefinite hunger strike protesting China's continues rights violations in Tibet

Ms. Dolma Choephel, Joint Secretary of Central TYC, Mr. Gyatso, Vice President of RTYC, Gangtok and Mr. Sonam Wangdu, an active member of RTYC commenced their hunger strike outside the United Nations building in New York on April 2.

The hunger strike has been give the support of the International Tibet Independence Movement in a press release from Larry Gerstein President of the movement today.

While Tibetans have long sought independence from China, who took over the "roof top of the world" nation in 1951, their spiritual leader the Dalai Lama has lately stated that independence is no longer an issue and that China and Tibet should enter dialogue for the granting to Tibet greater autonomy and cultural determination within the Chinese state.
