China hits back at US over rights

BBC NEWS | Asia-Pacific | China hits back at US over rights

In a tit for tat China has released it's own Human Rights report on The U.S. in response to last week's U.S. State Department Human Rights Report which accused the Chinese of "Backsliding" on her Human Rights record.

Topping the list of Human Rights violations the Chinese claim the U.S. has been guilty of is the death of some 13,000 civilians the Chinese claimed died as a result of U.S. military aggression abroad.

As well it focuses on poverty, homelessness and the crime rate as evidence of the United States' two faced attitude in criticising China for what she believes is necessary actions to control her 1.3 billion citizens.

This being fairly "hot off the presses" I have not yet seen anything more on China's report than the BBC article linked to above but whatever it says in detail will not cause too many headaches in Washington.

These diplomatic tit for tats are a pretty much expected part of international diplomacy and it is not so much what is said but what remains unsaid that counts and I have a feeling treat the document will be a fairly lukewarm affair.

Tomorrow in the boardrooms of corporate America and China all this will be forgotten.
